Structured validated self-reporting measures may be used systematically before and after surgery in order to evaluate the perioperative dialogue using quantitative measures. Methodology: The research is based on two studies where semi-structured interviews were carried out, with 18 patients and 20 nurses. Data from the interviews were analysed according to grounded theory. Results The results showed, that by using the perioperative dialogue, a continuity of care is created, both from a patient and nurse perspective. The perioperative dialogue is the pre-, intra- and postoperative meeting between the nurse and patient in connection with the latter's surgery.
